Controls & Software Engineer - Manufacturing Automation

What you need to be successful:
- Controls Engineering experience programming both Allen Bradley PLCs and Robotics
- RS Logix (also called RS 500 or RS 5000) programming experience (not troubleshooting)
- Robotics Programming experience - ABB, Fanuc, or Kuka
- Cognex Experience or other machine vision
- 5+ years' Automation Controls Experience (might be called an Applications or Automation Engineer) for Manufacturing - not Building/Facilities Controls
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, Automation or similar field and 5+ years’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Solid knowledge of electrical codes and related regulations
- Experience in object-oriented programming
Responsibilities include:
- Provide controls and software engineering support for all new machine projects, with emphasis on automation
- Provide subject matter expert (SME) support to the organization, customers, and service technicians as it pertains to controls solutions.
- Plan and implement control project assignments together with upper management
- Estimate manpower requirements, and plan and monitor work schedules to meet timely completion
- Recommend changes in methods design or equipment when necessary
- Create controls concepts and designs for customer orders related to machine accessories and automation where required for customer review and approval and for manufacturing with help and supervision from Controls Engineers
- Complete necessary engineering CAD drawings required for customer review and approval and manufacturing
- Develop, release, and approve drawing packages and BOM’s
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering on enclosure, motor & sensor designs, and cable routing
