- Process payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements, and statements.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and file various federal, state, and local tax returns, with a focus on excise tax for taxable goods like tobacco and alcohol.
- Assist with month-end closing responsibilities and audit preparations, maintaining necessary documents and reports.
- Collaborate with state tax departments and assist in tax and inventory audits.
- Maintain accounting filing systems and uphold established accounting standards and procedures.
- Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, with hands-on experience in excise tax for taxable goods like tobacco and alcohol.
- Skills: Intermediate Excel skills and a strong grasp of basic accounting principles.
- Self-Starter: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where you’ll need to wear multiple hats and tackle diverse tasks.
- Education: An Associate’s Degree is preferred but not required.
- Experience with AS400 Accounting Information Systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a goal-oriented mindset.
