What you need to succeed:
- Interest and aptitude in electrical and control programming design, be capable of self-management and engaged with high energy.
- Bachelor Degree in a Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- 2+ years of work experience in the area of electrical, electronic and PLC Programming for control systems.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of analytical ability and creativity where problems are unusual and difficult.
- Previous knowledge of commonly used controls, engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of both panel design and controls programming (RS Logix)
- Understanding of industry standards related to industrial production equipment (NEC, RIA, CE, UL)
- Ability to report onsite 5 days a week in Florence, KY as this is a heavy research and development role with lots of inter-discipline communication
- Ability to travel less than 25% (1 day overnight per month - occasional travel for a week but not more than once a quarter)
- Design complete control systems for the Modsort production equipment, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Systems architecture
- Power distribution and control panel design
- Specify controls components and develop parts lists with recommended spares
- Writing code for PLC, HMI, vision, robot and other necessary programs
- Delivering clear documentation packages including electrical schematics
- Collaborate with the production team to develop and execute installation plans for systems
- Actively participate in design reviews
- Perform/support the testing, troubleshooting, production startup, and training of equipment
- Research and remain current on industry standards related to industrial production equipment (NEC, RIA, CE, UL)
- Work with integrators on outsourced project support
- Work with automation/controls vendors for the build of control panels
- Work independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet project timelines
