Controls Engineer
Pay: $90, 000–$120, 000/year

trak group is hiring a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of electrical and controls systems for large-scale, custom manufacturing projects. This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who enjoys seeing designs move from concept through installation and working directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design electrical and controls systems for custom material handling equipment
- Create control schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and communication architecture
- Develop bills of material and customer-facing technical documentation
- Partner with project managers and mechanical engineers to bring system concepts to life
- Support manufacturing, purchasing, and troubleshooting during builds
- Assist with factory acceptance testing (FAT), prototype builds, and system validation
- Participate in on-site system installation and startup support at customer locations
- Contribute to continuous improvement and R&D initiatives
- Travel 15–25% as needed for customer installs and project support
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- 5–10 years of experience designing and programming electrical/control systems
- Hands-on experience with panel design, wiring diagrams, and controls architecture
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs
- Ability to interface directly with customers in a professional, confident manner
- Willingness to travel 15–25%, including occasional week-long installs and weekend work (additional PTO provided)
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
Nice to Have:
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar)
- Background in material handling, industrial automation, manufacturing, or construction environments
- Panel build experience
- Knowledge of PLCs, RFID systems, and proximity sensors
