Job Title: Contract Database Engineer
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Job Type: Contract
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database design, development, and optimization, with expertise in managing complex data environments. As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our databases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems to support business applications.
- Optimize database performance by analyzing and resolving issues related to queries, indexes, and storage.
- Collaborate with software developers to integrate database solutions into applications.
- Develop and implement data models, schemas, and tables to meet business requirements.
- Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform regular database monitoring and maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and provide technical support.
- Create and maintain documentation related to database architecture and processes.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Strong understanding of database design principles and normalization.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance standards.
- Experience with cloud-based databases and services (e.G., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.G., Python, Shell) for automation tasks.
- Certifications in database technologies or cloud platforms.
