Job Description

General Position Summary

Provide technical leadership, networking and operating system expertise as well as serve as a project manager and escalation resource for all technical activities in support of the company and its end user community.  Network Administrator will have 2 Direct Reports and ultimately be responsible for all WAN/LAN networking of a multi-site, highly mobile workforce.
  • Responsible for the daily performance and availability of the organization's network. Analyzes network and recommends upgrades/changes; assesses organization's current and future network needs.
  • Oversees the daily operations of network staff and records incidents and changes. Manages operations staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met. Responsible for analyzing problems, developing solutions and making decisions that impact projects and network operations.  
MUST HAVE
  • Ability to be In-office 5 days/week to support
  • Service-oriented personality - have to be able to get along with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong Network design and maintenance background with a mid-large size company (100+ employees) 
  • Proven understanding of platforms such as Microsoft, Dell, Fortinet, SD_Wan.
Essential functions / Major Responsibilities

Leadership of a team responsible for network design, LAN and WAN connectivity, security analysis/design and implementation, network management, definition and coordination of standards, project management, technology research, and end user support.
 
  • Must have strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently without direct supervision. Determine own methods of performing assigned work.
  • Maintenance and support of data center operations, LAN/WAN architecture, server and network hardware, software, and applications
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance, networking and operating system expertise, project management, and serve as an escalation resource for all technical needs
  • Monitor, assess, and report on network and server bandwidth and resource utilization
  • Provide ongoing review of capacity requirements in order to align with budget planning
  • When necessary, work in concert with software and hardware vendors for problem resolution
  • Ensure integrity and availability of data through continuous assessment of data backup operations
  • Develop and maintain operational user manuals and guidelines.
  • Planning a strategy to maintain system security on the computers, systems and network as a whole
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.
  • Promptly communicate any potential problems, incidences or occurrences effecting the daily operations and management of the department to your immediate supervisor.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to improve job related skills; be responsive to direction and criticism; show flexibility and creativity in completing work assignments.

  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
 
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Experience with security, network and infrastructure technologies
Transportation / Logistics industry knowledge preferred.
