Machinist

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | 7a-3: 30p Mon-Fri

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Fairfield, Ohio that’s expanding its Manufacturing team.

Summary:

This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes, mills, VTLs, or manual machines to perform drilling, tapping, milling, boring, and other machining operations across a wide range of surfaces and dimensions. The position supports the production of high-quality parts while meeting established timelines.

While machines are programmed to control axis positioning and preset tool changes according to pre-established methods, the machinist monitors operations and makes adjustments to programming as needed. The role includes managing complex setups, machining to close tolerances, determining proper operation sequences, and selecting, adjusting, and mounting tools appropriately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions):

Study routers, blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces as guides for machining.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Start and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining;adjust controls or control media as required.
Verify finished workpieces meet specifications and complete documentation recording critical machined dimensions.
Set up and operate machines for trial runs to confirm accuracy of settings or programmed control data.
Collaborate with team members to solve problems, identify improvements, treat others with respect, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
Perform machining across various types of equipment;cross-training and successful operation of multiple machines is essential.
Train other machinists on specific equipment to support cross-training efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to work full-time shifts while standing for extended periods.

Qualifications/Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required;vocational training, related on-the-job experience, or an Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
Strong attention to detail and dependability.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, initiative, and the ability to collaborate with coworkers to develop solutions to work-related challenges.
Experience working with various types of metal.
Ability to independently perform machine setups, create programs, and machine parts to print specifications.
Experience with CNC machining using Fanuc and Tosnuc controls is a plus.
