Maintenance Technician -1st Shift

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | M-F 7a-3: 30p

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Erlanger, Kentucky that’s expanding its Manufacturing team. 
Position Summary
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician –Day Shift to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment in a fast-paced production environment. This hands-on role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, supporting automation systems, and ensuring equipment reliability. The ideal candidate has strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience with PLC-controlled equipment, and a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on high-speed production, packaging, and automated equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems.

  • Diagnose equipment failures and restore production equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Install, start up, modify, and repair manufacturing equipment and machinery.

  • Maintain motors, drives, HMIs, PLC-controlled equipment, compressed air systems, and power distribution components.

  • Support maintenance of flow wrappers, vertical baggers, pick-and-place robots, and other automated production equipment.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support

  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems, three-phase motors, PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, and instrumentation.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, OEM manuals, and technical documentation.

  • Provide technical guidance to production personnel and assist with equipment operation and troubleshooting.

  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.
Preventative Maintenance & Continuous Improvement

  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities using the CMMS system.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.

  • Participate in Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, and ISO compliance initiatives.

  • Support equipment upgrades, new equipment installations, and process improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with GMP, OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and company safety procedures.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.

  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial electrical systems.

  • Knowledge of three-phase motors, VFDs, HMIs, power supplies, control circuits, and instrumentation.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and OEM documentation.

  • Experience using CMMS software for preventative maintenance and work order tracking.

  • Certificate in Applied Electrical Maintenance or an Associate degree in Electronics preferred.

  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, HAZMAT, and industrial safety practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, and crawling.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally push or pull carts weighing up to 350 pounds.

  • Ability to work around moving machinery, electrical equipment, varying temperatures, noise, dust, humidity, and other industrial conditions.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, uniforms, hairnets, and respiratory protection when required.
