Maintenance Technician

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | Nights - 12 hour (Sun, Mon. Tues and every other Saturday)

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Mason, Ohio that’s expanding its Manufacturing team. 
Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing equipment and plant systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This is a hands-on technical position requiring strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, along with familiarity with PLC systems, robotics, industrial networking, and manufacturing equipment.

In addition to day-to-day maintenance responsibilities, the Maintenance Technician will support new equipment installations, equipment startups, process improvements, and capital projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can independently diagnose equipment issues, complete repairs, document work, and identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability.
Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and repair plant operational and manufacturing equipment.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues.

  • Monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain proper operation.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance needs.

  • Identify equipment failures and determine appropriate repair solutions.

  • Troubleshoot and support PLCs, robotics, industrial controls, and related automated equipment.

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs necessary to restore equipment to operation.

  • Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend long-term corrective actions.

  • Work independently to resolve equipment issues while involving additional technical resources when necessary.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on manufacturing and plant equipment.

  • Inspect equipment to identify wear, potential failures, and other maintenance needs.

  • Complete corrective maintenance following equipment failures or performance issues.

  • Make adjustments and repairs to improve equipment reliability.

  • Recommend modifications that could reduce downtime or prevent recurring failures.

  • Support development and improvement of preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance activities.

  • Complete work requests, maintenance logs, equipment records, and technical reports.

  • Coordinate maintenance activities around production schedules and operational requirements.
Plant & Facility Systems Support

  • Provide technical maintenance support for plant and building systems.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot building-related equipment as assigned.

  • Support phone systems and network/computer cabling when required.

  • Troubleshoot basic equipment connectivity and industrial networking issues.

  • Coordinate with internal IT, Engineering, or outside resources when additional technical support is required.

  • Provide on-call support for U.S. Operations as needed.
Equipment Installation & Startup

  • Assist with the installation of new manufacturing equipment and systems.

  • Support equipment relocation and modifications.

  • Coordinate installation activities with internal personnel, equipment suppliers, and outside contractors.

  • Assist with equipment startup, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization.

  • Verify newly installed equipment is operating correctly and safely.

  • Support commissioning activities for new manufacturing machinery and production systems.

  • Troubleshoot startup issues and work with vendors or technical resources to resolve problems.

  • Provide ongoing maintenance support following new equipment installations.
Work Instructions & Training

  • Develop and update work instructions associated with new equipment and production processes.

  • Document proper equipment operating and maintenance procedures.

  • Assist with developing technical documentation for newly installed equipment.

  • Train production and maintenance personnel on new equipment, systems, and processes.

  • Communicate proper equipment operation and basic troubleshooting procedures.

  • Maintain accurate documentation following equipment modifications and process changes.
Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, production efficiency, safety, and manufacturing processes.

  • Evaluate recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective solutions.

  • Recommend modifications to equipment or processes that improve performance.

  • Prioritize practical, low-cost improvement opportunities that can provide measurable operational benefits.

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.

  • Work with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and other departments to implement equipment and process improvements.

  • Monitor completed improvements to verify expected results.

  • Provide technical input regarding potential equipment upgrades or replacements.
AutoCAD & Technical Support

  • Create and modify AutoCAD drawings for equipment and process improvement projects.

  • Develop equipment layouts and other technical drawings as required.

  • Update existing drawings following equipment modifications or installations.

  • Use technical drawings to communicate proposed equipment and facility changes.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation associated with manufacturing equipment.
Project & Capital Equipment Support

  • Assist with planning equipment upgrades and capital improvement projects.

  • Develop preliminary project budgets and cost estimates.

  • Evaluate equipment and process improvement opportunities based on cost and operational impact.

  • Identify lower-cost projects that can be completed using existing resources.

  • Prepare information for larger capital projects requiring management approval.

  • Assist with vendor coordination, equipment selection, and project implementation.

  • Support projects from initial planning through installation, startup, and final optimization.

  • Communicate project status, costs, technical concerns, and equipment requirements to management.
Requirements Education

  • Technology degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.

  • Equivalent technical education and relevant industrial maintenance experience may be considered.
Experience

  • Hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.

  • Experience diagnosing manufacturing equipment failures.

  • Familiarity with automated manufacturing equipment and industrial controls.

  • Exposure to equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing equipment improvement projects preferred.
Technical Skills

  • Preventive and corrective maintenance.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidate will be a hands-on industrial Maintenance Technician with solid electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment. This individual should be comfortable diagnosing production equipment failures, performing repairs and preventive maintenance, and independently working through technical problems.

Experience or exposure to PLCs, robotics, industrial automation, AutoCAD, equipment installations, and industrial networking would make a candidate particularly strong. This opportunity offers broader responsibilities than a traditional maintenance position because the technician will also participate in new equipment installations, equipment startups, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects.
