- Directly manage a production line, ensuring adherence to safety, material quality, and production standards
- Supervise and instruct 12-15 hourly bargaining unit personnel per shift
- Enforce company and department policies, providing leadership to a steel union team
- Lead daily and monthly safety briefings with hourly employees
- Resolve operational problems arising from breakdowns, scheduled changes, and procedural adjustments
- Collaborate with other departments and personnel to ensure efficient operations
- Maintain a hands-on approach, spending 10-15% of time on paperwork/in-office and the rest on the floor with the team
- Demonstrate proactive planning and awareness, preparing for the next shift's needs and ensuring the team is fit for duty to meet safety requirements
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to work rotating swing shifts in a 24/7 facility
- Grit and adaptability, with a preference for candidates with military experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, ideally with experience overseeing 5-8 individuals
- Leadership skills to effectively lead a steel union team
- Proactive and aware, with the ability to plan and think ahead
- Hands-on approach, comfortable spending the majority of time on the floor with the team
- Manufacturing industry experience is essential
