Responsibilities include:
- Negotiate costs, contracts, and policies with suppliers, representing the company's interests.
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, and distributing materials, and supplies.
- Interview, hire, and oversee staff training for purchasing department personnel.
- Locate vendors, interview them, and prepare requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, raw materials, and equipment.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and monitor goods received, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Resolve vendor grievances and claims against suppliers, ensuring smooth procurement processes.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Control purchasing department budgets and prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
- Arrange for disposal of surplus materials and control obsolete inventory.
- Experience in sourcing metals and rubber, including critical and niche parts.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Willingness to engage in Tri-State travel, with approximately 25% travel expected, mostly day trips with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or applicable experience.
