Senior Accountant
What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting;
  • Five years of Accounting experience. Two of which should be at a Senior level
  • CPA preferred
  • Professional demeanor with concern for strong financial integrity;
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail;
  • Senior Accountant role in other governmental or non-profit entity;
  • Great team player demonstrating patience, persistence and leadership;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrated success in high paced environment;
  • Experience in preparing financial projections, pro forma and related analysis;
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with demonstrated work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedures and practices for increased efficiency while maintaining overall accuracy and improving productivity among staff;
  • Demonstrated experience, comfort and skill in organizing and presenting financial information in understandable format; and
  • Demonstrated experience working with financial software applications;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Above average functional capability with personal computers and associated related software;
Responsibilities include:
  • Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to bank reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation;
  • Coordinate and complete month-end and year-end financial responsibilities;
  • Preparation of financial reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives;
  • Research and document financial related issues;
  • Completion of regulatory filings;
  • Lead internal and external audits including, but not limited to preparation of schedules and other data as necessary;
  • Prepare all financial data and enter into a prescribed Financial Data Schedule;
  • Compile and test final reports and general ledger data as requested or assigned;
  • Act as a liaison with financial institutions resolving various issues such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, targeted balance calculations and enhancements to online services;
  • Stay abreast of all industry guidelines as it relates to the financial operation and ensure understanding of others within the agency;
  • Ensure all finance functions have accurate and updated standard operating procedures, making changes where necessary;
  • Act as a mentor and a source of information for those with questions regarding functions of the finance department;
  • Lead and assist in projects as assigned;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
