Senior Accountant
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting;
- Five years of Accounting experience. Two of which should be at a Senior level
- CPA preferred
- Professional demeanor with concern for strong financial integrity;
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail;
- Senior Accountant role in other governmental or non-profit entity;
- Great team player demonstrating patience, persistence and leadership;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrated success in high paced environment;
- Experience in preparing financial projections, pro forma and related analysis;
- Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with demonstrated work experience;
- Demonstrated ability to develop procedures and practices for increased efficiency while maintaining overall accuracy and improving productivity among staff;
- Demonstrated experience, comfort and skill in organizing and presenting financial information in understandable format; and
- Demonstrated experience working with financial software applications;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Above average functional capability with personal computers and associated related software;
- Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to bank reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation;
- Coordinate and complete month-end and year-end financial responsibilities;
- Preparation of financial reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives;
- Research and document financial related issues;
- Completion of regulatory filings;
- Lead internal and external audits including, but not limited to preparation of schedules and other data as necessary;
- Prepare all financial data and enter into a prescribed Financial Data Schedule;
- Compile and test final reports and general ledger data as requested or assigned;
- Act as a liaison with financial institutions resolving various issues such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, targeted balance calculations and enhancements to online services;
- Stay abreast of all industry guidelines as it relates to the financial operation and ensure understanding of others within the agency;
- Ensure all finance functions have accurate and updated standard operating procedures, making changes where necessary;
- Act as a mentor and a source of information for those with questions regarding functions of the finance department;
- Lead and assist in projects as assigned;
- Perform additional duties as assigned
