Staff Accountant

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | Full-time

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in West Chester, Ohio that’s expanding its Shared Services team. 
Position Summary
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support core accounting functions that ensure accurate financial reporting and a timely month-end close. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, maintaining financial documentation, and collaborating with internal teams to support daily accounting operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and looking to build a strong foundation in corporate accounting within a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities General Accounting

  • Prepare recurring and standard journal entries to support the general ledger.

  • Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve routine discrepancies.

  • Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for the monthly financial close.

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation supporting financial transactions.

  • Research routine accounting issues and escalate more complex matters as needed.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

  • Support month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Assist with variance analysis by gathering and organizing supporting information.

  • Support intercompany and multi-entity accounting activities.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting processes and close efficiency.
Audit & Compliance

  • Compile supporting documentation for internal and external audits.

  • Ensure accounting records comply with company policies and internal controls.

  • Assist with compliance reporting and documentation requests.

  • Maintain organized financial records to support audit readiness.
Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with accounting team members and internal departments to resolve routine accounting questions.

  • Collaborate with business partners to gather financial information and support reporting needs.

  • Complete special projects and ad hoc assignments as assigned.
Professional Development

  • Develop proficiency with ERP systems, BlackLine, and financial reporting tools.

  • Expand knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting practices.

  • Participate in cross-training opportunities across multiple accounting functions.

  • Build technical accounting skills through progressively complex assignments.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

  • 1–2 years of accounting experience or relevant internship experience.

  • Foundational understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Knowledge of financial statements and general ledger accounting.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with ERP systems or financial reporting software is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
